Louis Armstrong - We Have All The Time In The World

9600 ratings | 1928116 views
Song: We Have All The Time In The World Artist: Louis Armstrong Writer(s): Hal David, John Barry Genre: Jazz Album: Her Majesty's Secret Service - Soundtrack Released: 1969, 1994 (Re-released) Producer: Phil Ramone ''We Have All the Time in the World'' is a James Bond theme and popular song sung by Louis Armstrong. Its music was composed by John Barry and the lyrics by Hal David. It is a secondary musical theme in 1969 James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the title theme being the instrumental "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," also composed by Barry. The song title, "We Have All the Time in the World", is taken from James Bond's final words in both the novel and the film. Louis Armstrong was too ill to play his trumpet. Barry chose Armstrong because he felt he could "deliver the title line with irony." When asked for his favourite Bond composition, John Barry cited both "We Have All..." and "Goldfinger". "Goldfinger" because it perfected the "Bond Sound", and "We Have All..." because it was the finest piece of music he had written for a Bond movie and because of the pleasure of working with Louis Armstrong. How much time do we have? :-) Lyrics: We have all, the time in the world Time enough for life, to unfold All the precious things Love has in store We have all the love in the world If that's all we have, you will find We need nothing more Every step of the way Will find us With the cares of the world Far behind us We have all the time in the world Just for love Nothing more, nothing less, only love... Every step of the way Will find us With the cares of the world Far behind us, yes... We have all the time in the world Just for love, nothing more, nothing less, only love... Only love...

If this song doesn't tug at your heart strings, you have no soul..On a side note, although this is the best version of this song, the Iggy Pop/Brian Eno version for the movie "The Jacket" is great as well.

Simply the best. Love him so much.
I could imagine John Barry and Roger Moore coming up to Louis Armstrong in heaven and say, "It's quite alright, Louis. We're just resting. We have all the time in the world."

love/hate this song. It's so beautiful, I get tears in my eyes, and keep seeing Bond in the car. But keep returning to it.

I can remember Bond's face looking at his recent wife's face without life, his sadness and at same time feeling his great loss , his great love. It is the best Bond's expression on all movies James Bond. Aylton Raymundo. RJ-BR.

Thy dawn, O Master of the World, thy dawn; For thee the sunlight creeps across the lawn, For thee the ships are drawn down to the waves, For thee the markets throng with myriad slaves, For thee the hammer on the anvil rings, For thee the poet of beguilement sings.

I cry every time I listen to this song now... it was my nans favourite and we would always play it together. Her funeral was on Friday and this was the last song played. I know she would have wanted this. I placed a lily (her favourite flowers) on the coffin in the trumpet solo and left, bawling my eyes out. I love you nana

The ironic musical commentary to the devastating scene at the end of the most underrated of all Bond films – and quite frankly of one of the very best Bond films of all time, at least as good as Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only and The World Is Not Enough.

I can hear the pain and emotion in this song. I remember this song being on an advert back in the 90s for an alcoholic beverage in England. I've always liked the song and to hear it fully the words still stands to this present day.

On her majesty's secret service was given a lot of bad publicly for obvious reasons, I liked it when it was released, I was 10, my mum took me to see it. All these years on I still like it, the music made it. Was a fan of Sean, but grew to prefer Roger, but it was John Barry's music that still lives with me.

Thank you for posting this song and the information. The great John Barry, Hal David, and Louis Armstrong did themselves proud. I didn't know, from GarryH1963's information, that Mr. Armstrong was in frail health. You'd never know to listen to him sing. I'm requesting this song for my son's wedding. Now, to brush a tear from my eye.

No disrespect, but Louis Armstrong?? This is such a gorgeous piece of music and lyrics, a better singer is in order. I know I am going to offend, but I had to get my opinion out here.

Lyrics by the late Hal David! Longtime collaborator for Burt Bacharach. Hal David stood Always in the shadows from other composers. But the lyrics that Hal delivered to these composers like Barry or Burt were always of a high level. You can have a great melody but when the melody doesn`t have the right lyrics then you don`t have a great song. Listen to Hals cataloque!Hal thank you for all these wonderfull lyrics...RIP

As a life long Beatles fanatic, I always gave Live And Let Die the position of the best Bond theme/song of all time. But perspectives and sensibilities change, and so, Louis has claimed the crown. It's a brilliant, musically exquisite composition, the arrangement is gorgeously rich and textured, and Armstrong's soulfulness and sense for nuance are breath-taking. An evergreen and a masterpiece.
