From Coco Chanel's "La Garçonne" boyish French flapper look of the 1920s and Elsa Schiaparelli's 1930s Surrealist looks, to Christian Dior's New Look in the 1950s and André Courrèges' space-age mod fashion, take a look back at the last century of French fashion. Well first of all, my great great great grandma was living in france since she was born in the 1800's and all those old photos of her in the 1910's looked nothing like this. Second of all my great grandma looked nothing like that in the 1930's. 😒😔😨😤

When a white person wears 'ethnic' clothes it is a cultural appropriation. So why, for f*ck's sake, are 'ethnic' models portrayed to wear typical French fashion?

bubulle Compagny (20 days ago)
it's french fashion in terms of luxury and most important creation, it does not mean that it represents the way people are dressed in the street. It's not all wrong, but there were others more important and influencial trends they did not show, that affected the common people's style.

40s isnt the Christian tight waist full skirt. That's supposed to be in the 50s. In the 40s, women wore dull colours and were often boyish as it was during war. Only after the war, Dior came out and design a flattering silhouette for women and it "shocked" the whole world with the beautiful silhouette. <- I did this research when I was in fashion school specifically the 50s era. 60s fashion was the mod fashion in earlier year then the shift dress, the shapeless dress that is chic. While 70s still wore it, it was more colourful, but the main fashion iconic style was more of bell-bottomed pants. Then it came the 80s, and everyone clearly knows that the 80s is the rock n roll era. It's all about being bold, colourful, tutu chiffon skirt overlaying colourful leggings, crazy curly hairs, big colourful earrings, oversized tops. I think 90s' more on wearing jeans with big-padded shoulders on jackets. While the early 20s a lot of bohemian style, long tops with jeans as bottoms, spaghetti straps. Today's fashion is mostly pretty fitted and smart-casual.

Everyone gets mad at these videos, they aren’t saying that eVERYOne in France walk around in suits and expensive clothing, they are showing the typical fashion shown in the media of that place and year. ( I’m assuming lmao, I obviously can’t know for sure. I hope I explained that ok lol )
Me (2 months ago)
OK. Wrong again. Chanel did introduce jersey. She was also pictured in the Breton suit featured in the 50s. Also why WHY is it french fashion only started with Dior? It was also started by Charles Worth. The chanel suit also 80s along with the oversize suit that came and went in the 90s. I happen to see a gorgeous man in a camel suit in Melbourne in the early 90s so WHY IS IT this channel gets it all so WRONG?

1. You cannot correct "Glamour" on fashion, it's like trying to correct Michael Angelo on the intricacies of ceiling-based murals. 2. Let's take a moment to appreciate France; setting global fashion trends since the time of Anne Boleyn.

If your going to do a video about France you think you could use a ETHNICALLY FRENCH PERSON AS A MODEL?!?!
The Loose Cannon (3 months ago)
French people like "I'm french and I don't see peope like this in the streets". Dudes, this is not your lifestyle clothes. This is FASHION (<- FASHION CLOTHES = RICH PEOPLE). They are not talking about how people dress with no money.

Why do half of the women don’t look french ? For China I am pretty sure you would only have talked Chinese models and it would make sense. Stop forcing “diversity” everywhere

Adam Register (3 months ago)
Selina Moses (3 months ago)
This video was pretty inaccurate in some ways as mentioned before (the Dior look was 1947 but defined the 50s not the 40s) but also, there's not that much difference between French fashion and other countries through the decades for ordinary people. This video was pretty bad. It also shows that there really is no point in idolising French fashion as blogs have been doing for the last 5 years, it really is just bog standard trends
hagglemyivan (3 months ago)
As always, these videos are terribly inaccurate. The “1910s look” looks like a 20s hat and coat. The 1920s look... my god does that hat not fit. And the 1930s look.... although Schiaparelli has some crazy fashion, nobody was walking around in lobster clothes!
